Obituary

Donald D. “Don” Matulka, age 81, of Beavercreek, Ohio, passed away on April 11, 2012. Don served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an alumnus of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Don retired from WPAFB as an Electrical Engineer after 29 years of service. He was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his loving wife, LaVerne Matulka; children, Donna (John) Stafford, Daniel Matulka (Jennifer Eberenz), David (Tawana) Matulka, and Deborah Matulka (Ed Parks); 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; siblings, Louis (Eldene) Matulka, Fred (Janet) Matulka and Rose Marie (James) Rawlinson, all of Nebraska.

Family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, April 16, 2012 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 1440 N. Fairfield Rd., Beavercreek, with Father Terry Schneider officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or St. Vincent de Paul Homeless Shelter.

Donald D. "Don" Matulka, 81, of Beavercreek, Ohio, formerly Agnew, passed away on April 11, 2012. Don served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was an alumnus of the University of Nebraska. Don retired from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as an electrical engineer after 29 years of service. He was a member of St Luke's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, LaVerne Matulka; children, Donna (John) Stafford, Daniel Matulka (Jennifer Eberenz), David (Tawana) Matulka, and Deborah Matulka (Ed Parks); five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; siblings, Louis (Eldeen) Matulka, Fred (Janet) Matulka, and Rose Marie (James) Rawlinson; sister-in-law, Wilma Matulka; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Rose Matulka; brother, Edward Matulka, and infant sister, Frances.

A memorial mass will be held at SS Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Valparaiso on Saturday, May 19, 2012, rosary at 9:30, mass at 10; burial at Agnew Cemetery following mass. Monsignor Paul Witt will officiate. Memorials to Hospice of Dayton or to St. Vincent de Paul Homeless Shelter.
