Adrian L. Rerucha, 81, of Grand Island died peacefully on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at St. Francis
Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Blessed
Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Louis Sellam will officiate.
Burial will be in the Grand
Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7
p.m. Sunday at the church. A rosary will follow at 7. Apfel Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.
Mr. Rerucha was born on May 14,
1933, in Staplehurst to Leonard and Georgia (Bartunek) Rerucha.
He married Charlotte Sypal on
May 6, 1957, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in David City.
Survivors of the immediate
family include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Todd Bengtson of York; a son, Chris
Rerucha of Doniphan; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard and Virginia Rerucha of David City
and Lynos Rerucha of Grand Island; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Grace and Allen Halouska of
Grand Island, Marge and Greg Mysenburg of David City, Doris and Allen Jensen of Lincoln and Connie
and Tom Wildermuth of Norfolk; and three sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law, Ruth and Alex
Cermak of Hastings, Jeanette and LaVern Fiala of Kearney, Joe Sypal Jr. of Bellevue, Helen Koterba
of Bellevue and Lyle Sypal of Bellevue.
Also surviving are his
grandchildren and their spouses, Andrea and Kurt Naber and John and Emily Bengtson; a
great-granddaughter, Brooke Bengtson of York; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He grew up in David City and
graduated from David City High School in 1951. He entered the U.S. Army in 1953 and was honorably
discharged in 1955. The couple moved to Atkinson, where they farmed until 1966. Adrian put up the
first self-propelled sprinklers in Nebraska in April 1957. In 1976, he started at Green Line
Equipment, where he was the parts manager. Adrian retired from Green Line Equipment after 36 years
in 2012. Adrian and Charlotte moved to Grand Island in 1978.
He was a member of Blessed
Sacrament Catholic Church and the Lone Tree American Legion Club in Central City.
Adrian was preceded in death by
his parents, Leonard and Georgia Rerucha.
Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
